Volvo Group Southern Africa is offering an exciting graduate opportunity for a Finance Intern based in Durban. This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in various finance functions within a global organization. The Finance Intern will work closely with our Accounts team and report directly to the Business Control / IT Manager. This position offers valuable exposure to key areas of finance, providing a solid foundation for future career development in the finance sector.
As a Finance Intern at Volvo Group Southern Africa, you will have the chance to engage in the following responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable:
- Coordinate the end-to-end (E2E) process for accounts payable, working collaboratively with the Logistics team, AP Team, and suppliers.
- Execute master data updates in the General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Payable systems.
- Manage the once-off payment process and ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Master Data Management:
- Execute updates and maintenance of master data in both GL and Accounts Payable.
- Coordinate the maintenance of the Rebate Register, addressing non-conforming activities and processes.
- Training and Assessments:
- Process and capture training assessments (AMIC) to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Project Participation:
- Participate in or manage projects within the master finance area, focusing on maintaining financial governance standards and improving financial control performance.
- Cost Deployment and Reporting:
- Provide support and participate in Volvo Production System (VPS) activities, coordinating actions for cost deployment.
- Create and manage purchase orders (P+).
- Deliver statistics and reports to authorities or other related parties as required.
- Period End Closing:
- Manage period end closing time plans and closing schedule preparation.
- Cooperate with and communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the closing process.
- Audit Preparation:
- Prepare required documentation for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and work instructions.
- Process Improvement:
- Prepare and update work instructions, forms, and spreadsheets for accounting personnel.
- Actively participate in process standardization initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Education: Completed BCom Accounting degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to use initiative and work independently.
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
- Highly organized, structured, and deadline-driven.
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, particularly in Excel (effective use).
