Nature Connect is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as a Groen Sebenza Internship Program Coordinator. The Groen Sebenza Internship Program, funded by the Department of Environmental Affairs and other partners, aims to address the critical need for skilled professionals in the environmental sector while promoting inclusive growth and transformation within the industry.

Responsibilities
  1. Program Coordination:
    • Oversee all aspects of the Groen Sebenza Internship Program, including recruitment, selection, placement, and mentorship of interns.
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with participating organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies to facilitate intern placements and support.
    • Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and networking events for interns to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professional development.
  2. Mentorship and Support:
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to interns throughout their placement, ensuring a positive and enriching experience.
    • Facilitate regular check-ins and evaluations to monitor interns' progress, address challenges, and provide feedback for improvement.
  3. Administration and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of intern placements, activities, and outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports and updates for funders, partners, and stakeholders on program performance, achievements, and impact.
  4. Promotion and Outreach:
    • Promote the Groen Sebenza Internship Program to potential interns, partner organizations, and stakeholders through various channels, including social media, events, and presentations.
    • Participate in outreach activities and recruitment efforts to attract a diverse pool of candidates from different backgrounds and communities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, conservation biology, ecology, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in project management, program coordination, or related roles.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues, conservation principles, and sustainable development practices.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, academia, and community groups.
  • Passion for environmental conservation, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.
